The class will be led by outdoor survival expert and retired U.S. Air Force SERE specialist Khristopher “Pete” Peterson. Pete taught Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape skills to military personnel who were at risk of isolation or capture.
The survival training will consist of “learning while hiking” on trails at the park. Participants should be prepared for 2 to 3 hours of easy to moderate hiking with stops.
Classes will last approximately 4 hours each day.
Attendees are highly encouraged to bring the equipment that they would normally take on a multi-hour hike; but not to go out and purchase new expensive hiking gear.
Recommended clothing and gear:
Comfortable “layered” clothing including: long pants, socks, appropriate hiking shoes, and a small backpack with water, snacks, personal needs, knife, compass, insect repellent, hat and a walking stick(optional).
This class has ended – thanks to all those that participated!
